Powing was located in Canton, a flourishing port/city in South China. Prior to the Treaty of Nanking (1842), export trade was confined to the port of Canton.

Maker Information:
Powing is possibly the earliest observed CES maker. He never used Latin letters on his pieces or pseudo-English hallmarks. Pieces are always marked in characters: Bao Ying or Po Ying. Bao/Po always in simplified form.Signed pieces are rare and forms are generally limited. Marks are usually either engraved/scratched in the pieces or stamped.
