Chinese Export Silver Presentation

Liang Sheng was located in Shanghai. In the Treaty of Nanking (1842), the ports of Shanghai, Canton, Fuzhou, Ningbo & Xiamen were opened for free trade and Hong Kong was ceded to the British. This impacted greatly on the export trade which was previously confined to the port of Canton.
