Hui was located in Hong Kong, an island/port in South China which was ceded to the British in the Treaty of Nanking (1842) and became a British colony.

Maker Information:
The mark of Hui has been observed alone and on pieces bearing the mark of other larger firms. This silversmith probably made and sold his pieces to ordinary customers from his shop while also selling pieces to larger firms such as Cumwo and Sun Shing for resale. Items bearing this mark are often of very high quality.

Marks:
The mark of Hui existed in the following form:

 Chinese character reading "Hui or Ooi"   Chinese character reading "Hui or Ooi" along with a larger firm mark (i.e. CW or S.S.) 

Known workshop/artisan marks:
Hui was a retailer and workshop.
