Chinese Export Silver Presentation

Gan Mao Xing was located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province. The province was (and still is) famous for its porcelain wares which were exported internationally from Shanghai.

Time Period:
Around Around 1900-1930

Location:
Jiujiang, on the south bank of the Yangtze River in northern Jiangxi Province. The old name was Kiukiang or Kewkiang.

Maker Information:
One of the few known makers to have worked in Jiujiang. Gan Mao Xing’s pieces are usually marked with the makers name and Jiujiang.

Marks:
The mark of Gan Mao Xing existed in the following forms:

 "Gan Mao Xing" in Chinese characters and the location mark of "Jiujiang" in Chinese characters   "Gan Mao Xing" in Chinese characters, the location mark of "Jiujiang" in Chinese characters, and tsu wen (solid silver) in Chinese characters  


Known workshop/artisan marks:
Gan Mao Xing was probably the workshop and the retailer
