Cumshing was located in Canton, a flourishing port/city in South China. Prior to the Treaty of Nanking (1842), export trade was confined to the port of Canton.

Maker Information:
The name for this early maker was derived from early transaction records. Cumshing was very well known to American customers of the period. This firm worked in both English tastes and Chinese tastes.

The mark of Cumshing has been observed invarious different forms. It is known to exist in the following forms:
